What is my child's swimming skill?

Level One
  • Level 1: Peewee Plankton
    • Child is having their first introduction to the water
Level Two
  • Level 2: Super Shrimps
    • Child can:
      • Fully submerge face for 3 seconds
      • Bounce up and down in chest-deep water
      • Do supported float on front
      • Do supported float on back
      • Blow bubbles
      • Enter and exit water independently
      • Move through chest-deep water maintaining balance
Level Three
  • Level 3: Magnificent Minnows
    • Child can:
      • Hold breath and fully submerge head for 3 seconds
      • Retrieve objects in chest-deep water
      • Float or glide unsupported
      • Level off from a vertical position
      • Flutter kick on front
      • Flutter kick on back
      • Combined stroke on front
Level 4
  • Level 4: Dynamic Dolphins
    • Child can:
      • Retrieve object, eyes open, no support in chest-deep water
      • Bob and submerge head completely 15 times
      • Jump into deep water from side of pool
      • Dive from side of pool
      • Glide with push-off
      • Coordinate arm stroke with breathing to side
      • Elementary backstroke
      • Reverse direction while swimming
Level Five
  • Level 5: Wild Whales
    • Child can:
      • Bob in deep water
      • Experiment with buoyancy and floating position
      • Front Crawl
      • Breaststroke
      • Sidestroke
Level Six
  • Level 6: Shining Sharks
    • Child can:
      • Alternate breathing
      • Dive from diving board
      • Long shallow dive
      • Refine:
        • Breaststroke
        • Sidestroke
        • Elementary backstroke
        • Swimming under water
        • Butterfly
        • Front crawl
        • Back crawl
