What is the minimum age that my child can be to enroll in lessons with The Swim Squad?
Believe it or not, if your child is above the age of 6 months old, he/she is ready to swim! Our highly trained instructors are beyond capable of teaching all children of all swimming abilities above the age of 6 months.  Please note that the instructor may require the parent/legal guardian of the child under the age of 24 months to be in the water at all times of instruction, to enhance the child’s learning experience.

I am an adult and I would like to learn to swim.  Can you help me?
Of course!  It is never too late to learn how to swim.

What is a session?
A session consists of 8 30-minute long classes.

How many sessions should I register my child for?
Every child is different.  There are many contributing factors that will affect your child’s swimming progression.  Although some children may acquire swimming skills at a more rapid rate, we recommend registering for many sessions in the early stages of the summer.  Even if your child is a quick learner, multiple lessons will only help reinforce their newly acquired skills, giving them more confidence in their abilities. Remember, each session is a building block, increasing your child’s self-assurance, in and around the water.

What are the sizes of your classes?
That depends on which type of lesson you choose.  Group lessons are composed of 3-5 children, semi-private lessons have 2 children, and private lessons are one-on-one instruction.

What qualifications do your instructors have?
Each and every one of our instructors are Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and CPR certified.  All of our instructors have previous experience teaching swim lessons to children of all ages.  They are also required to complete additional training with Swim Squad, LLC.

What happens if it rains?
Safety is our top priority when it comes to inclement weather.  Inclement weather is considered any thunder, any lightning, and rain that is heavy enough to obscure visibility.  The instructor is responsible to call ahead to any swim lesson where the weather may be in question.  If the lesson is halfway completed when the existing weather conditions worsen, the time lost will then be added on to the following lesson.  If the lesson is less than halfway over when the weather conditions worsen, then the lesson will be rescheduled.

What is your cancellation policy?
Lessons may be cancelled and rescheduled if The Swim Squad is notified at least 48 hours in advance to that lesson.  If, however, The Swim Squad is not notified 48 hours in advance, that lesson will not be rescheduled and is non-refundable.  If a group lesson is held, and one or more children are absent, these lessons will not be refunded.  However, if an entire group would like to cancel, the same 48-hour cancellation policy applies.

How do I register my child?
Registration is easy!  Visit our Registration page or just call our office at 352-375-8080.

How can I pay for the classes?
The Swim Squad accepts all major credit cards, checks, cash and money orders.  All swim lessons must be paid in advance.  Your payment must be received at least 5 business days after your registration is received, but prior to the start of any lesson.  For those writing checks, please write the name of your child on the check, as well as the beginning date of the session.  Checks may be made payable to:  The Swim Squad, LLC

What does my child have to wear?
Children under 3 years of age must wear swimming diapers because regular diapers will become heavy and waterlogged.
